"Recorded this past summer in the Arizonan Tonopah desert, "A Mirrorful of Assassins" is 9 tracks of dervish free jazz with psychedelic-tinged moments from the duo Stembreo, consisting of surreal artist Matt Brown on percussion and experimental chameleon Parker Weston on (prepared) saxophones and electronics. The hazy, subdued electroacoustic or world-influenced moments contrast albeit compliment the punk energy of the album's bulk.

Originally a solo musique concrete project of Weston's released on various experimental labels, Stembreo debuted this incarnation with the electronica-soaked EP "Bewailing the Imbroglio" earlier this year, which like the solo albums before it under the same name, bear little resemblance to "A Mirrorful...". The focus of the duo is to expand on what can be done with two of the most commanding acoustic instruments as sonic palette."
